Volunteers of The EggsChange Project at the Shanghai American School (SAS) had a chance to pet some chickens and collect eggs on their visit to Jianxi Province. They got a chance to see the farms and meet the producers who benefited from their micro-financing venture which supports farmers to set up organic egg farms.
The group, along with two other clubs from SAS, will be attending the prestigious Global Issues Network Conference in Singapore (GINSING 2012) on November 9th to introduce their respective ideas for sustainable solutions to global issues.
The EggsChange project was started by Shanghai American School student JinJin Xu in 2010. Farmers who become involved in EggsChange receive 50 chicks, chicken feed and instructions on how to produce their eggs free-range and organic. They are also guaranteed a price and market for their eggs.
