The College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) program offers over 30 courses that enable students to pursue university-level studies while still in high school. International schools - usually based on American curriculum, may offer some or many AP courses.
High marks in AP exams can give the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both, depending on the university. This can allow new university students to "skip" courses and gain credit - starting university ahead of the game.
It is a primarily a U.S.–based program available at schools offering American-based curriculum.
