International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an international curriculum designed for students aged 16 to 19. It is known to be academically challenging and an excellent preparation for university. Students study a balanced program of studies and take a final examination.

IBDP considers the complete student, including the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The program has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities and is recognized by more and more universities around the world, including those in the USA.

Besides choosing one subject from each of five groups in the IB Diploma Programme, students must also demonstrate breadth of knowledge and understanding in their first language, additional language(s), the social sciences, the experimental sciences and mathematics. There is room for the arts or a second concentration. Part of the IBDP Core includes:

  • An extended essay that requires students to perform independent research and in-depth study in on of the subjects
  • Theory of knowledge develops a critical thinking approach to understanding the nature of knowing
  • Creativity, action, service (CAS) involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies throughout the program, such as involvement in the arts, creative thinking, active lifestyles, and community service
