Students from Nord Anglia International School, Pudong went on an epic journey to Iceland during the Chinese New Year holiday. The participants saw the beautiful landscapes of the frozen country filled with cascading waterfalls, undulating hills, glistering glaciers and breath-taking views. All of these phenomena are topics studied on the Geography syllabus itself.
Some of the highlights of the trip included a glacier walk on Sólheimajökull, the glacial lagoon of Jökulsárlón, an eight-wheel monster truck ride around the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and catching a glimpse of the magical Northern Lights. The tour of Iceland ended with a traditional golden circle tour and an obligatory stop at the Blue Lagoon.
Yvonne Chen, Year 8, said: “Although the sightseeing and all the activities we did in Iceland were amazing, the main highlight of the trip to me was either the Northern Lights or the snowball fights. I loved the Northern Lights over everything else because it was truly beautiful. It was so magnificent.”
